What Makes You Throw Up

1870: Myth and chamber-rock revival of our times

ZAFRETH HELLO FRIENDS, LES SALUDA Cesar Mendoza.

First of all, be my blessings to you all with a view to a Happy Holiday Season 2008.

Since the year is out, let me tell you about the Mexican group HUNDRED SEVENTY 8mil 1870), one of the pleasant surprises for the latest contemporary music. With her debut album "Myths of the Resurrection," published in the last months of 2008 by Luna Negra, chamber-rock music in 1870 has a clear link with the early works of Art Zoyd and UNIVERS ZERO, and also with bold musical legacy of his fellow pioneers of NAZCA. 1870 brings a special freshness to this legacy by emphasizing resources of the inscrutable musique concrete and electronic atmospheres that remind us of other visionaries such as Alchemy and OXOMAXOMA compatriots, as well as the legendary minimalist krautrock Kluster. Band members are Gustavo Albarran (French horn, vocals, cymbals, drums), Alfonso Cosme (French horn processing, percussion, keyboard), Karel Gómez (oboe, English horn, theremin) and Hugo Luque (electronic effects and processing real-time data), being oasi the first is the composer of all parts of the album. "Myths of uan Resurrection" is a concept-record inspired the poetry of Conde oen Lautreamont. - Just the band name comes from the year of the untimely death of the said French poet, the forerunner of modern forms of the literary genre that was to illuminate various avant-garde expressions in the first decades of the twentieth century.

repertoire floating atmospheres and disturbing alternating with hoisted smartly fanfare, through times of stress and other electronic dark openly more likely to reflect a quiet autumn, misleading in its immense mystery. You can hear some of your material on their MySpace blog

Congratulations Messages For A Friend Marriage

Honduras Libregrupo

HOLA AMIGOS, LES SALUDA Cesar Mendoza.

This last May I've been fascinated with a recent (and belated) discovery in South America: this is the band HONDURAS LIBREGRUPO Argentina. His latest offering album "The only position is the Opposition" is published by the Argentine avant-garde label Artigianale Azione (
http://www.azioneartigianale.com.ar/catalogo.htm # mnpsse ). Now the group is a quintet with the addition of a saxophonist, but until recently was a quartet of guitar, bass, drums and keyboard.

Before that, in 2006, when the group took a little over a year made, HONDURAS LIBREGRUPO released his debut album "Volume 1" in traditional format, distributed free to those attending the concerts. This is a strong repertoire, recovery of the traditions of space-rock, RIO and psychedelia to progressive krautrock. Cosmic atmospheric disturbances that dominate the album has a clear retro, but the force of the musicians is very modern (especially in those moments which are close to the standards of post-rock). 'Botox' and the last two issues, 'Second Half of Day' and 'Monochrome Flora', form which in my opinion are the absolute peak of "Volume 1".

Soon after, in late 2006, the group did a cover of the song 'Sea Song' by ROBERT WYATT with lyrics in our language - the title of this cover is 'Song of the Ocean'. Here we see an evolution registration LIBREGRUPO HONDURAS style, tending to more full and colorful sonorities. Both

debut CD are available as single for download from the link of the band:

Highly recommended!

Brazilian Wax, Close Up

The "selective memory" of icebergs

"Selective Memory" or "Selective Memory" is the title of the new album by veteran FLOES Venezuelan group, which consists mostly of old compositions that are piled up in the suites that the band contributed to a pair of multi-group concept albums, "Odyssey" and "The 7 Samurai." This album takes us back to these compositions in formats that were originally composed. There is also an issue that dates from the era of "The Agony & the Ecstasy" and a new one composed exclusively for this album: are 11 tracks in total.

The grace of the album is that is publicly available for download surfer - the link is http://www.tempano.com/site/esp/enlaces.php
can also listen to these songs through the blog http://www.myspace.com/tempano, which reports in detail on this new album download.

seems to me a great musical work, much along the lines of "Childhood's End", reflecting the colorful and eclectic style that gives the veteran Venezuelan géneroprogresivo assembly. Also noticed similarities with the solo projects that erupted momentarily iceberg (iX and ODRAREG), this indicates the great rapport between the group's ideology and its individual components proposed. Although the group announced that the album was recorded with techniques of the '70s (and in fact the department is full of gadgets keyboards and vintage Moog synthesizers, Hammond organ and Farfisa, Mellotron, etc..), There is a noticeable vibration modern sound production. FLOES I think, undoubtedly, one of the most notable names among those who still remain in force and productive in the global progressive scene.

As they say the last lines of the album's credits, "Spread the word, the verse, the note, the melody ... The songs are yours."
